Prima di sviluppare il suo stile anamorfico in 3D, Julian ha lavorato come busker strada, facendo ritratti 2D più convenzionali su occupato le strade dello shopping di Londra e in Europa. In questo modo ha imparato come utilizzare al meglio pastelli prima di tentare le illusioni più innovativi e ambiziosi 3D che dovevano seguire.
